Renowned singer Bruce Springsteen threw his support behind Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris at a star-studded rally in Atlanta, Georgia, where he fiercely criticized her Republican rival, Donald Trump. As early voting commenced in the state, Springsteen, popularly known as “The Boss,” took the stage and described Donald Trump as an “American tyrant” who fails to understand the country and its core values.
Speaking to a packed crowd, the 75-year-old rock legend declared his support for Kamala Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz. “Kamala Harris is running to be the 47th president of the US. Donald Trump is running to be an American tyrant. He does not understand this country and its history or what it means to be deeply American,” Springsteen said. He urged voters to cast their ballots for Kamala Harris and Walz in the upcoming election on November 5.
Springsteen emphasized the importance of a president who respects the Constitution, protects democracy, and fights for the rights of women. He underscored the significance of electing a leader who believes in the rule of law and supports a peaceful transfer of power. “I want a president who reveres the Constitution, who does not threaten but wants to protect and guide our great democracy, who will fight for a woman’s right to choose, and who wants to create a middle-class economy that will serve all our citizens,” he said.
Springsteen also criticized Donald Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, stating that Kamala Harris is the only candidate who embodies these values. His performance at the rally included acoustic renditions of his iconic songs “The Promised Land” and “Land of Hope and Dreams,” concluding with the crowd-favorite “Dancing in the Dark.”
The rally, which drew several high-profile attendees, saw appearances from filmmaker Spike Lee and actor Samuel L. Jackson. Multi-Grammy Award-winning singer Beyoncé is also expected to join Kamala Harris on the campaign trail. Kamala Harris has received endorsements from several other music icons, including Taylor Swift and Stevie Wonder, who rallied for her earlier in the week during her 60th birthday celebrations.
During her address, Kamala Harris urged voters to take advantage of early voting and reject the divisive politics of Donald Trump. She encouraged the crowd to vote early and help turn the page on the fear and polarization that has gripped American politics for the past decade. Former President Barack Obama, who has been campaigning for Kamala Harris in swing states, also took aim at Donald Trump, calling him a “doddering old man,” while praising Kamala Harris’s work ethic and connection to ordinary Americans.
