Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 31 (ANI): In a bid to foster environmental consciousness and commemorate historical milestones, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Himachal Pradesh has announced the initiation of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.

This initiative, endorsed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to plant trees across the state from August 1 to 15.

Dr. Rajiv Bindal, the BJP State President, highlighted the significance of the campaign, emphasizing its dual purpose of environmental stewardship and securing a sustainable future for generations to come. The goal is ambitious: to plant 4 lakh trees at 8000 locations, with each booth in the state targeting the planting of 50 trees.

Under the leadership of State General Secretary Trilok Kapoor, a dedicated team has been established to oversee the campaign’s implementation and ensure its success. Dr. Bindal urged enthusiastic participation from all residents of Himachal Pradesh, emphasising the community’s role in making this initiative a triumph for environmental conservation.

In addition to the tree-planting campaign, Dr. Bindal also announced BJP’s decision to commemorate August 14th as “Partition Horror Day.” This day marks the tragic partition of India in 1947, a watershed moment in history that led to widespread displacement and suffering. The initiative, led by State General Secretary Bihari Lal Sharma, aims to educate future generations about the consequences of partition and honor those affected by the tumultuous events of that time.

Furthermore, the BJP in Himachal Pradesh continues its tradition of celebrating “Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan” on August 15th, coinciding with India’s Independence Day. This initiative underscores the party’s commitment to national pride and unity, encouraging every household to display the Indian flag.

Dr. Bindal reaffirmed BJP’s commitment to both political leadership and societal advancement, citing recent programs such as the Kargil Vijay Diwas and upcoming events planned for Rakshabandhan to promote social harmony.

The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign and associated initiatives reflect BJP’s holistic approach to governance, intertwining environmental stewardship, historical remembrance, and national unity as central pillars of their agenda in Himachal Pradesh. (ANI)
