New Delhi: Nitin Nabin, the newly appointed national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will begin a two-day strategic visit to Kerala on Friday, aimed at strengthening the party’s organisational base ahead of the state Assembly elections scheduled for later this year. The visit will cover key locations including Kochi, Ernakulam and Thrissur.
The Kerala tour comes barely a week after Nabin assumed charge as BJP national president on January 20, underscoring the party’s focus on expanding its footprint in southern India. Since taking over, he has embarked on an extensive nationwide outreach programme, visiting states such as Assam, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and West Bengal. During these visits, he has interacted closely with booth-level workers and local cadres, a move that party leaders say has boosted morale and grassroots engagement.
According to BJP sources, Nabin’s programmes across the country have been drawing significant crowds, reinforcing the leadership’s emphasis on organisational discipline and worker mobilisation as key pillars of electoral success.
Friday’s Schedule: Meetings and Booth-Level Outreach
The BJP chief is scheduled to arrive at Cochin International Airport at 1:45 pm on Friday, where he will be received by senior party leaders. He will then chair a meeting of the State BJP Core Committee at 2:30 pm, focusing on organisational preparedness, electoral strategy and coordination among party units.
Later in the day, Nabin will address the Booth Adhyaksh Sammelan for the Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts at the Adlux International Convention Centre. The BJP has identified booth-level leadership as a critical factor in election management, and the conference is expected to energise and align grassroots workers with the party’s broader campaign objectives.
In the evening, the BJP president will hold a series of meetings in Kochi with state leaders, election machinery in-charges and representatives of NDA constituent parties. He will also preside over another organisational meeting at the Dakshina Kerala Pranta Karyalayam, focusing on coordination and campaign planning.
Saturday: Campaign Kick-off and Policy Outreach
On Saturday, Nitin Nabin will offer prayers at the Sri Sringeri Shankara Math in Kalady, marking a cultural and symbolic start to the day’s engagements. He will then initiate campaign activities with wall writing at a booth in Thrissur town, a traditional grassroots method of election outreach.
The day’s programme also includes an address at an intellectuals’ meet in Thrissur, focusing on the Union Budget 2026 and the theme of “Vikasitha Kerala” (Developed Kerala). The event is expected to highlight the central government’s development agenda and its relevance to Kerala’s economic and social priorities.
Nabin will also meet state-level leaders and Shakti Kendra in-charges to review organisational readiness and fine-tune the party’s electoral strategy.
Significance of the Visit
The two-day visit marks a key phase in the BJP’s organisational consolidation efforts in Kerala, a state where the party has been working to expand its political presence in a traditionally competitive landscape dominated by the Left and the Congress.
Political observers note that Nitin Nabin’s emphasis on grassroots mobilisation, booth-level coordination and ideological outreach reflects the BJP’s broader strategy of long-term organisational building. As the Assembly elections approach, such high-level engagement is expected to play a crucial role in energising cadres and sharpening the party’s campaign machinery in the state.
