Bihar MP Rajesh Ranjan, popularly known as Pappu Yadav, has once again been targeted with death threats reportedly from the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang. His personal secretary, Mohammad Sadiq Alam, received a series of alarming WhatsApp messages on November 7, at 2:25 a.m. and 9:49 a.m., in Delhi. These messages warned of an assassination plan against Pappu Yadav, and Sadiq Alam promptly filed an FIR with the Connaught Place police station in Delhi to address the threats. Pappu Yadav had previously faced similar threats, leading to an arrest by Purnia Police, yet it appears that the threats have resurfaced with renewed intensity.
According to Alam’s FIR, the sender chillingly stated that “six individuals have been contacted for the murder of Pappu Yadav” and even shared an image of a Turkish-made pistol, claiming that this weapon was specifically designated for Pappu Yadav’s assassination. The recent escalation has added to Pappu Yadav’s growing frustration, as he shared with the media in Purnia on Friday. He disclosed that this threat is part of a broader, recurring pattern; he has filed six FIRs over similar intimidation attempts, calling for a serious investigation into the source and purpose of these persistent threats.
Addressing the media, Pappu Yadav criticized the apparent lack of response from law enforcement despite having repeatedly informed senior officials, including the Director General of Police (DGP), the Inspector General (IG), the Superintendent of Police (SP), and even the Home Minister. He expressed his dismay over the authorities’ failure to apprehend those behind the threats, particularly when the sender seemed to implicate others actively backing these attempts on his life.
Adding to the complexity, Pappu Yadav highlighted involvement from several individuals across multiple locations, including Mayank Singh, reportedly based in Malaysia, individuals from Nepal, and members of the Jharkhand-based Aman Sahu gang. While the Purnia Police previously made an arrest connected to earlier threats, Pappu Yadav noted that the broader network remains active, with multiple individuals continuing to issue warnings against him.
In his statement, Pappu Yadav maintained his resolve, underscoring his commitment to truth and justice despite the danger he faces. He stressed that he would not be intimidated, affirming that he feared no one when he stood on moral ground. He urged the administration to act decisively to prevent a culture of impunity from taking root, stressing that any delay would only embolden those issuing threats. As the threats against him persist, Pappu Yadav continues to call for a thorough investigation to uncover any political motivations or systemic failures that might be facilitating these repeated attempts to intimidate him.
