Foreign Minister of Belarus, Sergei Aleinik, arrived in India for an official visit at the invitation of External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S Jaishankar, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Aleinik, who had previously visited India in 2012 and 2022 as Deputy Foreign Minister and First Deputy Foreign Minister respectively, engaged in productive discussions with EAM Jaishankar during his visit.

The meeting between the two foreign ministers was described as fruitful, with a focus on strengthening bilateral political, trade, and economic ties. Both sides exchanged views on various aspects of their development partnership, including defense cooperation, science and technology, and education. Additionally, they delved into the regional situation and explored avenues for cooperation within multilateral forums such as the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), and the United Nations.
During the discussions, Aleinik and Jaishankar also reaffirmed their shared positions on key issues of global politics, emphasizing the importance of building a more just and sustainable world order based on principles of multipolarity and sovereign equality among states.
Additionally, Aleinik expressed his appreciation for Jaishankar’s consistent support for Belarus’ accession to the SCO and his positive stance on Belarus’ potential membership in BRICS, highlighting India’s role as a reliable partner in Belarus’ international aspirations.
