In a sharp rebuttal to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s remarks about the Samajwadi Party’s (SP) red caps, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has defended his party’s symbol while questioning Adityanath’s criticism.
Yogi Adityanath had criticized the red caps, which are associated with the SP, calling them symbols of “black deeds.” In response, Akhilesh Yadav defended the red cap by highlighting its cultural and emotional significance. “Red is the color of emotions and symbolizes the Goddess Durga,” Yadav stated during a rally in Kannauj.
Yadav used a playful jab to deflect criticism, saying, “They are criticizing our cap, yet our behavior remains exemplary. At least we have full hair, so we are wearing a cap. Those who do not have hair should also wear a cap.” This comment appears to be a light-hearted yet pointed critique of Yogi Adityanath’s appearance, who is known for his distinctive look.
In addressing Adityanath’s accusations of the Samajwadi Party’s alleged wrongdoing, Yadav dismissed these claims as indicative of Adityanath’s discomfort with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) electoral defeats. “He could not bear the shock of defeat, which is why he is making such statements,” Yadav remarked.
Akhilesh Yadav also criticized Adityanath’s comments on international matters, particularly concerning Bangladesh. “If he has concerns about foreign matters, he should address them with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the External Affairs Minister,” Yadav suggested, implying that Adityanath’s comments were an attempt to incite unrest.
