Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has strengthened his growing real estate presence in Ayodhya by purchasing another large parcel of land worth ₹35 crore, further highlighting the temple city’s rising investment appeal.
Amitabh Bachchan, one of India’s most celebrated actors, has continued to expand his real estate investments in Ayodhya, the historic city associated with the Ram Mandir. In his latest acquisition, Bachchan purchased a 2.67-acre land parcel from the real estate developer House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL). The deal, valued at approximately ₹35 crore, was officially announced by the company on March 6.
This acquisition marks Bachchan’s third major property purchase in Ayodhya within the past one and a half years, reflecting his increasing interest in the rapidly developing temple city. The newly acquired land is located near the 75-acre premium project called “The Saryu,” a large-scale development by HoABL that has attracted several high-profile investors.
The transaction was finalized through AB Corp Ltd, the company associated with Amitabh Bachchan’s business ventures. Rajesh Yadav, Managing Director of AB Corp Ltd, handled the formalities and completed the deal on behalf of the actor. This purchase also represents Bachchan’s fourth real estate collaboration with the Abhinandan Lodha Group, highlighting an ongoing partnership between the actor and the developer.
Ayodhya has witnessed a massive surge in infrastructure development and tourism after the construction of the Ram Mandir. As a result, the city has quickly emerged as one of the most promising real estate destinations in India. Bachchan’s repeated investments in the region demonstrate how influential individuals are increasingly viewing the city not only as a spiritual hub but also as a valuable long-term investment opportunity.
Amitabh Bachchan’s growing investment footprint in Ayodhya
Over the past eighteen months, Amitabh Bachchan has steadily built a substantial property portfolio in Ayodhya. His latest ₹35 crore purchase has pushed his total investment in the city to nearly ₹90 crore, making him one of the most prominent celebrity investors in the region.
Bachchan’s first major investment in the city came in 2024, when he acquired a 10,000 square feet plot in the prestigious “The Saryu” project. That purchase was valued at approximately ₹14.5 crore and marked his initial step into the Ayodhya real estate market.
The following year, in May 2025, he expanded his investment further by purchasing another plot measuring around 25,000 square feet near the same project. This second property reportedly cost around ₹40 crore, indicating the rapid appreciation of land prices in the area.
With the newly purchased 2.67 acres of land valued at ₹35 crore, Bachchan’s combined investments in the temple city have now reached close to ₹90 crore. The scale and frequency of these acquisitions demonstrate his strong confidence in Ayodhya’s long-term growth prospects.
Beyond financial investment, Bachchan has also maintained a visible presence in Ayodhya during significant cultural and religious events. He attended the historic consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir along with his son Abhishek Bachchan, joining thousands of dignitaries and devotees during the landmark occasion.
The Ram Mandir ceremony symbolized a major milestone in India’s cultural and religious landscape, drawing global attention to Ayodhya. The event also played a role in boosting the city’s tourism potential and increasing its appeal among investors and developers.
Bachchan’s continued association with Ayodhya, both spiritually and financially, reflects a broader trend among high-net-worth individuals who are recognizing the city’s expanding opportunities in real estate and tourism infrastructure.
Infrastructure growth and rising land values transform Ayodhya into major investment hub
Ayodhya’s transformation in recent years has been driven by extensive infrastructure development and the completion of major religious and tourism projects. The construction of the Ram Mandir has significantly increased the city’s prominence, attracting millions of visitors and generating new economic activity.
One of the most important developments has been the establishment of the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya. The new airport has greatly improved connectivity, making it easier for pilgrims and tourists from across India and abroad to reach the city.
Alongside air connectivity, road networks linking Ayodhya with major cities in Uttar Pradesh and neighboring states have been upgraded. Improved highways and transportation facilities have further boosted the region’s accessibility and economic prospects.
These infrastructure improvements have played a crucial role in accelerating real estate development across the city. Areas around the Ram Mandir corridor and the banks of the Saryu River have become particularly attractive for residential, hospitality and tourism-related projects.
According to industry estimates, land prices in Ayodhya have risen dramatically over the past five years. Between 2020 and 2025, property values in several prime areas have increased more than four and a half times. This sharp rise reflects the growing demand for land in and around the temple city.
Developers and investors believe that Ayodhya’s transformation is still in its early stages, with significant growth expected in the coming years. New hotels, residential communities, commercial complexes and cultural centers are being planned to accommodate the increasing number of visitors.
Abhinandan Lodha, Chairman of the House of Abhinandan Lodha, emphasized the long-term value of land investments in historically significant locations like Ayodhya. According to Lodha, land is often viewed as a generational asset that retains and grows in value over time.
He described Ayodhya as a unique confluence of faith, culture and heritage, factors that contribute to its strong emotional and economic appeal. The combination of religious significance and modern infrastructure development has created a rare investment environment where both cultural and financial value intersect.
Apart from Ayodhya, Amitabh Bachchan has also shown interest in other emerging real estate destinations. In Alibaug, a popular coastal town near Mumbai, the actor invested around ₹10 crore in a project known as “Soul de Alibaug.” There, he purchased approximately 10,000 square feet of land.
The Alibaug project has also attracted several celebrities and investors from the entertainment industry. Bollywood actors Kriti Sanon and Kartik Aaryan are among the personalities who have reportedly purchased plots in the same development.
These investments highlight a broader trend of celebrities diversifying their portfolios through strategic real estate purchases in rapidly developing regions. With tourism, infrastructure and cultural heritage combining to drive economic activity, locations like Ayodhya and Alibaug are increasingly seen as high-potential destinations.
For Ayodhya, the interest shown by prominent figures such as Amitabh Bachchan not only reflects the city’s growing financial potential but also reinforces its emerging identity as a modern spiritual and cultural center that continues to attract global attention.
