West Midnapore (West Bengal) [India], January 30 (ANI): After TMC leader Abhishek Banarjee blamed the Congress for the split in the INDIA alliance, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh has said that there was never an alliance but just a bunch of people coming together for a last effort to save themselves from going out of existence.

“Some are blaming Congress, some Mamata Banerjee and some Nitish Kumar. There was never actually an alliance formed. Some people had come together to save their existence but when they saw that its not going to work out and that no one could stand against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they are now rushing towards PM Modi,” said Ghosh.

Earlier during the day, Abhishek Banerjee laid the blame for the breakdown in seat-sharing talks in the state for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls on the Congress.

“When you are in an alliance with someone, the first thing you do is finalise the seat-sharing deal. We had been asking them about the seat-sharing arrangement since June. Seven months passed and they did nothing. At our (INDIA’s) last meeting in Delhi, Mamata Banerjee even set a deadline of December 31 (for the Congress to finalise its seat-sharing arrangement with the TMC in Bengal). We’re in the last week of January now and they still haven’t done anything,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dilip Ghosh, while speaking to ANI on the Congress’ ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, said that Rahul Gandhi’s ancestors split the country and now he is on a yatra to unite the country.

“His maternal grandfather and grandmother all broke the country; now he is set out to unite India. Everyone knows this drama but why is TMC not allowing their alliance partners to enter and do the programme (Yatra)?” said Ghosh.

Further reacting to Congress President Mallikarjung Kharge’s allegations that ED is giving notice to everyone and scaring people, due to which people are leaving their friends, parties and alliance, Ghosh has said that ED does no harm to anyone but who is corrupt.

“ED does not harm anyone; it takes action against those who are corrupt. Action should be taken against those who have looted the public for so long,” he said.

Earlier last week, the Enforcement Directorate put up a notice on Wednesday outside the residence of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Shahjahan Sheikh, asking him to appear for questioning on January 29.

Earlier last week, the Enforcement Directorate put up a notice on Wednesday outside the residence of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Shahjahan Sheikh, asking him to appear for questioning on January 29.

The ED sealed the residence of Sheikh in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas district, after conducting fresh raids in the early hours today in connection with the alleged Public Distribution System (PDS) scam case.

Meanwhile, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav reached the ED office in Patna today in connection to Land-for-jobs case. (ANI)
