In a swift resolution to a challenging situation, Air India successfully dispatched a relief flight from Krasnoyarsk International Airport in Russia to San Francisco, carrying passengers stranded from a previous flight. The passengers were originally on a flight from Delhi to San Francisco that had to make an emergency landing in Russia on Thursday due to a potential issue in the cargo hold area.
The relief flight, which took off from Mumbai, departed Krasnoyarsk at 12:02 am local time on Saturday. Air India confirmed the departure in a statement on social media, thanking various Russian authorities for their support. The Indian Embassy in Moscow expressed gratitude to Russia’s Foreign Ministry, the Krasnoyarsk Krai Government, and other agencies for their assistance throughout the emergency.
Upon arrival in San Francisco, additional on-ground support will be available to assist the passengers. Air India has mobilized a team at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to handle clearance formalities and provide necessary support, including medical care, ground transportation, and onward connections if needed.
Earlier, Air India had secured regulatory clearance for the relief flight, ensuring that the stranded passengers received essentials and sufficient food during their wait. The airline expressed appreciation for the cooperation of Russian authorities and emphasized their commitment to resolving the situation promptly.
The incident highlights Air India’s prompt response and the effective collaboration between international and local agencies to ensure the well-being of passengers in distress.
