Colombo [Sri Lanka]. October 24 (ANI): The Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) along with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APAEA) will conduct a workshop on Monetary policy and Central Banking issues in Asia and Pacific on October 27 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The workshop comes as emerging Asian economies grapple with an array of challenges in conducting monetary policy, from the impacts of COVID-19 shocks to the ripple effects of unconventional monetary policies in advanced nations, fluctuations in capital flows, shifts in commodity prices, and the surge of digital finance and credit intermediation within the nonbank sector.
These developments have underscored the importance of enhancing the transmission of monetary policy to the real economy and ensuring effective coordination between monetary policy, fiscal policy, and macro-prudential policy.
In a collaborative effort by the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), and the Asia-Pacific Applied Economics Association (APAEA), a research workshop will be conducted in Colombo, Sri Lanka, to delve into various aspects of monetary policy, banking and finance, and central banking matters across developing Asia and the Pacific.
The main objective of the event is the examination of emerging central banking issues and strategies for effective monetary and financial policies and to emphasis on central bank and supervisory practices aimed at enhancing financial stability and governance in developing Asian economies.
Target participants include central bankers and other government officials, along with experts from think tanks, academia, and international organizations.
A deeper understanding of the factors influencing the conduct of monetary policy in emerging Asian economies, fostering dialogue and support for the development of monetary policy and research, research papers presented at the workshop may be considered for publication in a special issue of a journal listed in the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), are the anticipated outcomes of this workshop.
