Actor Suriya and director Karthik Subbaraj have initiated the filming of their forthcoming project, tentatively titled ‘Suriya 44’, in Andaman. On Sunday, June 2, they unveiled a captivating promo, offering a glimpse into the essence of the film. Suriya is depicted donning retro attire as he gazes over the sea in the viral promo, indicating ‘Suriya 44’ to be a gangster drama, as suggested by their social media posts.
Recently, Suriya, Karthik Subbaraj, actor Jayaram, and the rest of the cast and crew arrived in Port Blair, Andaman. The filming commenced on June 2, with reports indicating a nearly 40-day schedule for the first leg of shooting in Andaman.
In his social media post unveiling the promo, Suriya expressed his excitement, stating, “Lights! Camera!! Action!!! #LoveLaughterWar #AKarthikSubbarajPadam Shoot in progress… #Suriya44.”
The promotional video captures Suriya situated by the sea, seated on a ledge with his suitcases, exuding a menacing yet intriguing aura as he turns to face the camera. Suriya is showcased adorned in a multicoloured striped shirt with long hair, adding a retro touch to his character.
Last week, Karthik Subbaraj announced the ensemble cast of ‘Suriya 44’ and extended a warm welcome to the team. Pooja Hegde is set to portray one of the lead roles, alongside Jayaram, Karunakaran, and Joju George, who will also feature prominently.
The film will feature music by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography by Shreyaas Krishna, and editing by Shafique Mohamed Ali. ‘Suriya 44’ is jointly produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment and Stone Bench Films.
