On Friday, June 21, 2024, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) intensified its nationwide protests against the National Testing Agency (NTA) regarding alleged leaks in the NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate) examination.
Demonstrations have expanded across several states including Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, and Maharashtra, with significant activities observed in cities like Bhopal, Hyderabad, Itanagar, Kanpur, and Jhansi. Protesters have taken to the streets, staging rallies and burning effigies to amplify their demands.
The ABVP’s primary grievance centers on the demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the alleged paper leaks during NEET-UG. They assert that substantial evidence of these leaks has surfaced publicly, necessitating urgent and stringent action to rectify the situation.
The organisation insists on the implementation of robust measures to prevent future exam malpractices and advocates for severe penalties for those found guilty of cheating or corruption related to competitive exams.
Expressing deep dissatisfaction with the NTA, protesters accuse the agency of negligence and corruption, which they argue undermines the academic and professional prospects of aspiring students. The ABVP has vowed to continue their protests until their demands for accountability and transparency in the examination process are met.
The ongoing demonstrations underscore a growing national outcry for a thorough investigation by the NTA and other concerned authorities to restore trust and integrity in the examination system.
