AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal addressed the media on Thursday regarding the alleged assault she experienced at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence on Monday. Swati Maliwal, who has given her statement to the Delhi Police, described the incident as “very bad.”
In a post on X, Swati Maliwal expressed her hope for appropriate action, stating, “The last few days have been very difficult for me. I thank those who prayed for me. Those who tried to do character assassination, may God keep them happy too.” She emphasized that the ongoing election in the country is of greater importance than her personal ordeal, urging BJP members not to politicize the incident.
Rekha Sharma, chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), also voiced her support on X, saying, “Well done @SwatiJaiHind. We must raise our voice against the perpetrators.”
The incident came to light on Monday when DCP (North) Manoj Kumar Meena reported that a PCR call was received at 9:34 a.m. at the Civil Lines police station. The caller claimed that she had been assaulted at CM Arvind Kejriwal’s residence by his Personal Secretary (PS) Bibhav Kumar. The PCR call record indicated that the woman stated she was at the CM’s house and had been assaulted by Bibhav Kumar.
The NCW has taken suo motu cognizance of the matter and has issued a summons to Bibhav Kumar, asking him to appear before the Commission on Friday.
