The Gautam Buddh Nagar administration has issued an important public advisory as temperatures continue to rise and the possibility of a heat wave increases across several districts of Uttar Pradesh. According to the weather department in Lucknow, Gautam Buddh Nagar has been placed in the yellow zone, prompting authorities to urge residents to take precautions against extreme heat and hot weather conditions.
District Disaster Expert Omkar Chaturvedi stated that rising temperatures in the coming days could increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially among children, elderly citizens, pregnant women, and people working outdoors. The administration has appealed to residents to follow all safety guidelines carefully to avoid health emergencies caused by heat waves.
Avoid Going Out During Peak Afternoon Hours
Authorities have advised people to avoid stepping out in direct sunlight, especially between 12 pm and 3 pm when temperatures are usually at their highest. Residents have been asked to go outdoors only when necessary and to cover their heads using caps, scarves, towels, or umbrellas while traveling.
People are also encouraged to wear light-colored and loose cotton clothes that absorb sweat and help keep the body cool. Health experts warned that continuous exposure to hot winds and intense sunlight may lead to dehydration, weakness, headaches, dizziness, and nausea.
Officials stressed that preventive measures are essential as heat stroke cases tend to increase rapidly during prolonged heat wave conditions.
Importance Of Staying Hydrated During Heat Wave
The administration emphasized that staying hydrated is one of the most effective ways to protect the body from extreme heat. Residents have been advised to drink plenty of water throughout the day and increase intake of fluids such as ORS, lemonade, mango panna, coconut water, and other cooling beverages.
People traveling outdoors have been specifically advised to drink water before leaving home and immediately after returning. Medical experts explained that excessive sweating during hot weather causes loss of water and essential minerals from the body, making regular fluid intake extremely important.
Citizens have also been advised to maintain a balanced diet by consuming fresh fruits, salads, and light meals while avoiding oily and heavy foods during the summer season.
Special Advisory For Farmers And Outdoor Workers
Special precautions have been recommended for farmers, laborers, and people working in open areas or construction sites. The administration advised workers to avoid working in fields during the afternoon and instead carry out outdoor activities during early morning or evening hours.
Officials also suggested covering the head and neck with cloth or caps and taking frequent breaks in shaded areas. If symptoms such as excessive sweating, severe weakness, dizziness, headaches, or vomiting occur, individuals should immediately move to a cool place, drink water, and seek medical attention if necessary.
Authorities warned that delaying treatment during heat stroke situations can lead to serious health complications.
Shelter Homes Established At Public Places
To provide relief from the heat, local civic bodies have established shelter homes at major public locations across the district. These shelters are equipped with fans, coolers, seating arrangements, and drinking water facilities for public use.
The administration stated that people feeling exhausted or overheated during travel can use these shelter homes for temporary relief. Residents were also encouraged to arrange water for animals and birds during the extreme summer conditions.
For emergency assistance, citizens can contact the district control room through the toll-free helpline number 1077. Authorities have also urged residents to avoid rumors and rely only on official weather and safety advisories.
